Ирландец Джек осуществляет коварную и хитроумную интригу для того, чтобы внести раскол в ряды итальянской мафии. Через десятые руки он организовывает убийство брата влиятельного мафиози Луи Веннири, причем все посредники оказываются убитыми. Подставленные под это дело молодые ребята, убившие Луи при ограблении его дома, не зная кого они «замочили», сразу же «вычисляются», а для того, чтобы разобраться с делом вызывают брата одного из них, полицейского Альфонсо Скоррано, уже выручившего однажды своего бедового младшего брата из тюрьмы при помощи той же мафии. Всех трех юношей Альфонсо, да и другие бандиты знали с детства, и выяснение отношений во время допроса и дознания напоминает театральную постановку с недюжинным пафосом.
