Билл Уильямс – актер, выходящий в тираж, который неожиданно для самого себя был нанят на участия в сиквеле картины а-ля «Правдивая ложь», боевике, сделавшим его знаменитым более десяти лет назад. Когда Билл узнает, что его напарником будет Аарон Роман, сынок богатых родителей без актерского опыта, это ставит под вопрос шанс триумфального возвращения, а точнее осложняет ситуацию в немыслимых пропорциях. У новоиспеченного дуэта на съемочной площадке возникает много неприятных ситуаций, но самое главное, что они оба начинают понимать, что требуется большое количество смелости, чтобы противостоять реальным вызовам жизни, гораздо большим, чем противостоят их герои на экране. Хотя Аарон может быть неопытен в актерском мастерстве, его стойкий дух, недрогнувший оптимизм и безоговорочная дружба, оказываются главными опорами для отчаявшегося Билла.
