После курьезной автокатастрофы, Стю, молодой талантливый художник-мультипликатор впадает в кому. Его сознание отделяется от тела, и он погружается в царство Морфея. Ему снятся всякие мультипликационные кошмары, самый страшный из которых как две капли воды похож на его последнюю разработку – безумную похотливую мартышку. Путешествуя по лабиринтам подсознания в обнимку со своими новыми друзьями, мутантами, упырями и конечно мартышкой, Стю пытается найти выход из этого гротескного нереального мира, в котором он оказался. Но когда у Стю появляется редчайшая возможность покинуть этот кошмар и проснуться, наглая мартышка подло обманывает его и вселяется в его тело. Любимая девушка и друзья Стю очень рады его возвращению. Конечно, они замечают произошедшие с ним перемены, но никто и не догадывается, что внутри Стю скрывается наглая, распущенная, подлая, но очень веселая обезьяна.
