Дори Лоренс, беспутная актриса и певичка, постепенно теряет ощущение реальности, страдая от шизофрении. Марка отправляют в ряды Морских пехотинцев, а Дори попадает в психиатрическую больницу. В жизненном хаосе, Марк и Дори встречают друг друга и осознают взаимную потребность друг в друге и в понимании. Несмотря на давление со стороны друзей и родителей, которые стремятся разлучить два любящих сердца, Дори и Марк выдерживают все испытания.
